My Weekend with “Mr. Pitt”

August 11, 2009 by morerachelsmith

So I’ve been very lucky to be able to interview some of the most talented people in Hollywood the last few years…. but every once in awhile this job is really great.    This weekend I was able to do a sit down interview with Brad Pitt – one of my all-time favorites for many reasons – I mean “12 Monkeys, Seven, Fight Club” – the list goes on and on.

So we all know he’s talented and obviously easy on the eyes but it’s so nice to see a star of this caliber is incredibly down-to-earth and still appreciative of his success.  I’ve interviewed him before on the red carpet and talked to him briefly at the Critics’ Choice Awards – but this was my first sit down interview with him.

Despite the ridiculous papparazzi outside – he was there with no entourage and came dressed in a casual outfit with glasses and hat and was just so laid back and unassuming.   Had apparently taken his kids to a concert the night the before and told me they had started doing his accent -from his new movie – around the house.

By the way – that new movie, Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds” is amazing and a must-see!  Brad is fantastic as is the entire international cast who deliver some of the best performances of the year.

I’ll have part of my interview on the MORE page right now – but will have my full interview with him next week, along with my review.

With some celebrities their attitudes are as big as their star power – it’s wonderful to see that is certainly not the case with Brad Pitt.

Will Ferrell’s the Man!

Okay – so I always get excited when I get to interview someone new.   This weekend I went to L.A. to do the junkets for three movies – “The Taking of Pelham 123″ – “Imagine That” and “Land of the Lost”.

This was the first time I’ve ever had the chance to interview Will Ferrell and I was SO pleased that he was just as funny and charming in person!

It’s surprising but sometimes comedians aren’t nearly as funny in interviews as they are on screen.  Will however was not only great in our interview – but he also popped in while I was interviewing his co-star Danny McBride as the two did a little duet of Cher’s “Believe”!   See the movie and you’ll understand the “Cher” significance.

I was also surprised just how much fun I had watching “Land of the Lost”.  It is just a silly, ridiculous good time and Will Ferrell is as funny as ever.

The movie opens this Friday the 5th and it goes against the incredibly funny Vegas comedy “The Hangover” – so we’ll see which one comes out on top.

“THE HANGOVER”

So Las Vegas is about to take center stage in a crazy new comedy called “The Hangover”.   I just saw the movie this weekend and got the chance to talk to the stars who all came back to Vegas for the interviews.

Let me just say this – I don’t think many comedies out there are all that funny – but this one is!!!  It’s from the guys who brought us “Old School” and it is hilarious.

It’s about 4 guys who come to Vegas for a bachelor party and then lose the groom.  They wake up the next morning and try to figure out what happened.

They filmed much of the movie at Caesar’s and the cast told me it was funny filming inside a working casino as most people didn’t even seem to notice them!    Star Bradley Cooper told me people were more interested if they were up at the tables then a Hollywood production.

Besides Caesar’s – you also notice many familiar faces from Vegas in the film – but I don’t want to spoil any of the surprises.

The movie opens on June 5th and we’ll have interviews with the stars and a look at how they shot the film in Vegas coming up on the MORE show.

One note – this movie is an R-rated comedy and not for kids – or anyone who’s easily offended.    You’ll be shocked by a few things that happen in the film – but honestly, it’s incredibly funny and one of the best comedies I’ve seen in awhile.
